Chelsea Complete £62.5m Double Signing

Chelsea have finalised the signings of Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo from Sporting CP in a deal worth £62.5 million.

The London club continues its trend of investing in emerging talent, having also secured Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez for the future.

Quenda, a 17-year-old winger, will remain at Sporting until 2026 before making the move to Stamford Bridge for £41.9 million. He has impressed this season, making his UEFA Champions League debut and scoring his first league goal against Famalicao in October last year. His dynamic playing style and work rate have drawn comparisons to Bukayo Saka.

Essugo, a 20-year-old defensive midfielder, will join Chelsea for £18.5 million this summer after finishing his loan spell at Las Palmas. Known for his strength and defensive ability, he is expected to provide depth alongside Moises Caicedo. Despite his talent, he has picked up two red cards in his last four matches.

Essugo could feature under Enzo Maresca in Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad in June. The acquisitions underline Chelsea’s commitment to securing top young talent, as they look to build a squad for both present and future success.
